| Abacus Mental Math Boost Camp
|
|
- all ages
Learning Abacus can be the key to establish concrete number sense and accelerate math learning from young ages. Abacus provides countable beads for kids to visualize numbers on a base-10 system. Consequently, students develop an abacus image to perform mental calculations. The ability of visualizing dynamic beads induces human creativity and inspiration. Abacus math effectively motivates IQ effect through multi-dimensional nature.
The summer program is an excellent opportunity to accelerate mental math skills by completing 3 months worth lessons in 4 weeks. This will be the most worthwhile summer program that you have ever attended!
- For students of 5-year-old and above
- Never been easier to learn Times Tables this way
- Great for students either underperforming or excelling in math

|
|
| Singapore Math+ - Algebra + Geometry and/or Critical Thinking Problem
|
|
- For Grades 3 to 8
It is unfortunate that many public schools failed to teach students how to effectively work on critical thinking problem at their early ages. Students are experiencing obstacles and frustration with even simple 2-step math problems. Analytical and logical approaches are especially emphasized in this level. Students will be exposed with different type of Math problems and be guided with multiple approaches step-by-step that lead students to a better thinking direction.
Critical thinking and problem solving skills are the focus of the program. We have classes for 3rd grade and up. Students will learn to find a pattern, sketch a diagram, make a list or a table, working backward, and use reasoning to solve a problem. Math is challenging but fun to work with!
- Taught by teachers with years of experience in Singapore math
- Singapore Primary Math (world No. 1) textbooks
- The Stanford and John Hopkins Univ. materials for gifted youth

| Mathlete Prep Camps |
|
- For Grades 2 to 12 (in different classes)
Learning to solve problems is the underlying reason for studying mathematics. Critical thinking and problem solving skills are the focus of the program. Summer is the perfect timing to exercise and enhance the problem solving skills. Through the training of the Mathlete Preps, students are prepared for advanced critical and problem solving skills. This program will be very beneficial to those who are targeting at prestigious math competitions which are above and beyond the standardized exams like AIMS tests.
The Mathlete Preps are offered to those students whose math skills are much ahead of the lower end of the grade ranges and the ages are below the higher end of the grade range. If your child needs arithmetic help or remedial help in basic concepts, you may want to consider the Mental Math Boost Camp or the Singapore Math + programs instead.
Several hundred of problems for each math competition will be studied and solved during the 18 hours. Many formula, tricks, and tips in solving math problems will be derived and practiced.
For 2nd to 3rd grade students, the problems will be mostly from the Noetic, CML, Math Kangaroo, Online Math League, and other math competitions.
For 4th to 6th grade students, the problems will be mostly from Noetic, CML, and the Math Olympiads for Elementary and Middle Schools (MOEM) contests.
For 6th to 8th grade students, the problems will be mostly from Mathcounts and AMC 8.
For high school students, we will focus on the programs from Mandelbrot, AMC10, AMC12, and AIME.

Critical Reading/Writing
- for grades 3 to 12 (in different classes)
Classical literatures will be discussed and analyzed in the class for students to know how to find the clues and inference of a passage.
Students will be guided to express themselves and explore different styles of writing like poetry, short-stories, informative, and narrative writing. Our teachers will hold students accountable for very common sense organizational and stylistic techniques. Students will be empowered with confidence in their writing. Students will produce multi-page collection of writing projects within the camp. The writing projects will be broken down into several units: Introduction, Researching/Brainstorming/Interviewing, Drafting, Editing, Finalizing, and Publishing. Real writing is not finished until it is published!
Phonograms, Reading, and Writing Paragraphs
- for grades K to 2 or English Learners
For those who are second grade and younger or learning English as the second language, we will teach them the phonograms and the most frequently used English words according to the Spalding Method. The introduction of these words improves pronunciation, spelling, and reading comprehension. Student will be
Instructed by Ms. Blake/Ms. Buchanan/Ms. Christian/Ms. McMillan
- taught phonograms which are letters or letter combinations that represent the 45 sounds in spoken English words
- taught to write well using correct English and good writing techniques
- taught how to increase their appreciation of what they read
- given assessment tests to assist teachers in applying the dynamic teaching method
